                                 Acknowledgements

There have been many T'ai Chi friends, teachers and students who have helped
me with my own journey. It is impossible to name them all but my heartfelt thanks
go to everyone who has supported me over the years and to those who continue to
help me in future years. I must however give special thanks to the following,
without whom I'm sure I would not have advanced so far:
The unknown Chinese gentleman - who after a chance meeting in Hong
Kong many years ago spent several hours introducing me to basic posture.
Dr Paul Lam - whose personal encouragement and modified T'ai Chi
programs for health have inspired me and given me the confidence and
ability to teach and encourage others on heir T'ai Chi journey.

Dr Paul Lam's master trainers - who have taught me standard and modified
             forms over the years. www.taichiforhealthinstitute.org
Faye & Tary of the Deyin Taiji Institute - who have taught me advanced
forms and inspired me in later years, taking my T'ai Chi to a higher level.
             www.deyin-taiji.com

Joan Towell - who has assisted and supported me since I started teaching
T'ai Chi, and who also helped verify the contents of this book.

Ken Hitchings - my wise old sage and neighbour - who has been a source of
encouragement and help to me over the past 38 years.
The many, many authors of instructional books and videos - who have
provided sources of reference over the years, especially Tim Cartmell for his
translation of Sun Lu Tang's book, Bill Douglas for providing the simplified
explanations that I needed when I started teaching and Gerde Geddes
whose long Yang form video provided a basic visual reference in my early
             T'ai Chi years.

Everyone who has allowed me to learn from them or to teach them - without
them I would not have progressed as a teacher and so be motivated to study
             more.
The Care Homes - such as Hazelhurst and others local to me, where I have
learnt that T'ai Chi has something to offer everyone no matter how frail they
             may seem.

All those that have contributed to this book in other ways:
Ken, Norman, Jill, Margaret, Jean - and others who have allowed their
pictures to be published; Gill - my supportive wife; Geoffrey - my
photographer; Carole - my editorial proofreader; Sheila Barbour, Margaret
Billingham - and other T'ai Chi colleagues who have critically reviewed my
             book before publication.
